GungHo Online Entertainment $3765.JP has spent more than a decade living off Puzzle & Dragons, drifting into irrelevance. This could be over, and we might finally see some value unlock. Strategic Capital mounted a year-long activist campaign, forcing the company’s long-time boss out. So now we have a new CEO (with a big pay cut compared to the previous chief) and a TSR-linked incentive plan. But this is not the most interesting part. GungHo holds a stake in Gravity $GRVY (~59%). Worth more than GungHo’s entire enterprise value. Gravity itself is interesting, btw: profitable and with a net cash position equal to its market cap. Now let’s see if Strategic can get this thing over the finish line.

Back to back days with 30%+ moves in the retail space. Today it's $ANF with a 30%+ move higher. This wasn't supposed to happen in the age of "alt data" and credit card panels. Instead, single stock vol in the retail space is higher than ever. Market structure is a big part of it (See my 5 "P"s" rubric). However, in this case you can't help but wonder how alt data is driving EXTREME levels of group think in individual stocks. One thing is certain, $ANF is a trader's delight, if you can get it right....

*PALO ALTO'S ARORA EXPLORED ACQUIRING DATADOG: INFORMATION $DDOG currently a $80B company "Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora has never shied away from deals, acquiring more than 40 companies in the eight years since he took the helm of the world’s biggest standalone cybersecurity firm. But over the past 18 months, Arora’s appetite for acquisitions has reached a new fever pitch as he expanded the company’s products to handle new AI threats as well as capture more revenue from existing customers. For instance, he explored acquiring Datadog, which sells software that helps businesses identify security threats and monitor how cloud applications perform, and Okta, which helps companies ensure workers have access to the right systems, according to two people with knowledge of the situation."
