Monster run past few days in retail -- $SHOP, $URBN, $EBAY, $ETSY $SHAK etc. especially considering where oil and diesel have traded and the results from $DPZ today..... seems selective still many laggards in each of those verticals - someone making a rates/inflation play or pure rotation slop as they sell chips? Weird(er) is the strength in rate sensitive plays like $w and even $trex relative t the rest of housing like $QXO, $BLDR, $low Opportunities in-between sectors to make our own call based on where you view the data

$CHRW shareholders not buying. Incredible amount of uncertainty in brokerage and how that will look in a few years from litigation impacts on costs (insurance and liability) and AI on margins/take rates. It is a phenomenal deal for $QXO shareholders as they get to exit at cyclical high pricing into incredible uncertainty. (why CHRW down) Also in your multiple assessment above, you need to consider a whole bunch more factors than putting a multiple on a several year out synergy target number (1 chew trading under 20x forward 27' numbers), Ch share count will increase 16%+ (for accretion/dilution scenerios), debt costs will significantly increase (that is stripped out of there) as well as all the severance and integration costs they will incur in the next few years. This deal is quite risky in my opinion. I Also as someone in your shoes knows covering the industry for years, the history of Brokerage acquisitions paying off is quite poor (just see QXO's Coyote acquisition a few years ago)

Given what is happening with most housing related stocks including Floor & Decor $FND and $QXO, I would have expected to see more insider buying at these companies but that is yet to materialize. We did see the home builder D.R. Horton $DHI increase its stock buyback authorization by an additional $5 billion yesterday (nearly 13% of market cap). The last insider purchase at the company was in 2014. With mortgage rates going up, it might be too early to get into this industry but I am starting to get interested.

Rate sensitive / consumer spending names starting to really take on water with rates and oil up....Game theory probably suggests the administration is likely to pull more tricks out of their sleeves leading into the midterms to try and increase affability and control rates (at least for talking points). --- Already witnessing a vert activist treasury secretary that (at least so far) did not succeed with his 6B buyback (but next month when the TGA refunding comes out I imagine he will use a much bigger mechanism to manipulate rates through the election) --- I also think the fed is much less likely to raise rates then the market is pricing (the committee members even beyond Warsh do not have the will to raise (Powell, Williams, etc) --- I also believe they will announce some sort of housing plan to have as a talking point for the closing stretch of these raises (down payment assistance, rate support, mass housing supply push on federal lands, etc). Does not matter if they never follow through, but something to come in mind as we play out the coming months I think some select housing plays that are blown out on weak starts, high rates, poor affordability, high commodity prices, etc. could be putting in attractive setups to go the other way for the coming months to election ($QXO, $LOW, $BLDR, $SSD)

$QXO gang anyone have a current cap table, wanted to run some numbers but its hard to keep up with all the issuance/debt offerings.... Pro forma suggests there is around 1.1B shares outstanding? (will that include all the financing to get Topbuild closed (I believe so)? + around $8B in net debt (pro forma) So at $14 a share - that would be roughly $23B EV value? Anyone confirm this or tell me which pieces are wrong (for Kodiak, beacon and Topbuild) Roughly $2B EBITDA off their press release (probably up for debate, rates/economy, then need to look how much synergies might be backed into that) So 4x leveraged (means likely more shares need to get issued to de-risk especially with interest rate risks and transmission to demand) so 11.5x with mote dilution (likely).....getting close but not there yet - still think you need to wait for 10x or < Last and most important question does the math around Beacon change - 15x is meaty for a distributor multiple so unlikely they walk. But with the 45/55 split (is there floor conditions or will TopBuild eat that difference if/when they vote later this month (if not anyone know what the break fee is). Thanks in advance
