This is actually a great point. $QXO is an opportunistic acquisition vehicle, not a plain vanilla building products company like $BLDR. If it’s just trading with rates, that could be the opportunity… https://t.co/yhGuyFWQAT
Rate sensitive / consumer spending names starting to really take on water with rates and oil up....Game theory probably suggests the administration is likely to pull more tricks out of their sleeves leading into the midterms to try and increase affability and control rates (at least for talking points). --- Already witnessing a vert activist treasury secretary that (at least so far) did not succeed with his 6B buyback (but next month when the TGA refunding comes out I imagine he will use a much bigger mechanism to manipulate rates through the election) --- I also think the fed is much less likely to raise rates then the market is pricing (the committee members even beyond Warsh do not have the will to raise (Powell, Williams, etc) --- I also believe they will announce some sort of housing plan to have as a talking point for the closing stretch of these raises (down payment assistance, rate support, mass housing supply push on federal lands, etc). Does not matter if they never follow through, but something to come in mind as we play out the coming months I think some select housing plays that are blown out on weak starts, high rates, poor affordability, high commodity prices, etc. could be putting in attractive setups to go the other way for the coming months to election ($QXO, $LOW, $BLDR, $SSD)
@pande40745264 @guptavinay Haven't followed QXO closely given it seemed outrageously priced, but a big attraction with these distributors are the countercyclical cashflow... Leverage @ $BLDR looks high, but unsecured notes not due until 2030-2032, and they should turn that inventory into cash
IF YOU ALLOCATE CAPITAL PROCYCLICALLY, YOU SHOULDN'T RUN A YUUUUGELY CYCLICAL BUSINESS $BLDR - Can anyone name a good (counter-cyclical) mngmt team that isn't named Lundin? https://t.co/yHn2kFBkuP
@pradeeepk I think you wait until it shows up (even more!) in $BLDR's numbers and markets suddenly start worrying about leverage. Investores don't care about balance sheets until it's suddenly the only thing they care about, and that's when stuff really crash.
Builders FirstSource reported Q2 2026 sales down 9% to $3.9 billion as weak housing demand and aggressive competitor pricing cut EBITDA…
@alluvialcapital Um, you don't need to go to Poland. Here are the US listed stocks that fit your criteria. $ABG, $BXC, $BLDR, $LPX, $RCII, $VSTO, $BKE to name a few. https://t.co/VLTbA5S9u8
