FAQ

Buying

Is the API included in the plans?
Yes. The same plans and the same allowance cover the API and AI apps such as Claude and ChatGPT. A call from either counts once.

Which plan do I need?
Individual for one person's own research. Corporate for a firm. Both have every endpoint and the same data. Corporate has higher limits. See Using the data.

Can I try it first?
Every plan starts with a 7-day free trial. You give a card at the start and nothing is charged for 7 days. Every endpoint page shows a real answer, so you can see what you'd get first.

Is there a free plan or a free key?
No.

What happens if I go over my limit?
Calls stop until the minute or the day resets. There are no overage charges. Your account page and the headers on every call that counts show what's left.

Can I get higher limits?
Corporate is our largest plan. If it isn't enough, write to feedback@bullpen.news.

Can I pay yearly?
Yes: two months free. Prices are in US dollars, and sales tax is added where we have to collect it.

Can I cancel?
Any time, from your account page. Your plan keeps working to the end of the period you've paid for.

Can I use it outside the US?
Yes. The companies are US-listed. Where you are doesn't matter.

Who runs it?
Bullpen.News is published by Dorsey Research, LLC.

The data

Do I get the full text of a story?
No: our summary, and a link to the story.

Why do X posts come as an ID and a link?
X's terms allow handing out post IDs, not posts. Open the link to read it.

How do I tell an item that's new from one we added late?
Use wentLive. published is the publisher's time, which can be months earlier when we add a source.

Do you have prices or filings?
No.

Is there a sandbox or test data?
No. The trial is the real API.

Using it

Is there an SDK?
No. Generate a client from openapi.json, or use the samples on each page.

Can I get new items pushed to me?
No: there are no webhooks. Poll the feed every 5 minutes.

Can I use it from a web page?
No. Keys are secret and the API sends no CORS headers. Call it from a server or a script.

How many keys can I have?
Up to 10. They share your plan's allowance.

Is my usage logged?
Yes: each request, its endpoint and parameters, how much came back, how long it took, and which key made it. We keep it for a year, then only daily totals. We don't record your IP address.

Is there an uptime guarantee?
No. See status.bullpen.news.

How do I get help?
Write to feedback@bullpen.news with the Request-Id from the response. We usually reply within one working day.
