Learning applications for Specs are going to insane. Forget tablets or laptops. Every school in America should give their kids some Specs. $snap
Wow - kinda nailed the need for cellular partner except the partner is VZ, not $SPCX. Good, regardless. $SNAP https://t.co/SaiRhAUmRr
Based on what we've seen so far from Specs, and given private market valuations, could easily see $SNAP sell 20% minority stake in Specs for $2B. Implication is insanely bullish for SNAP equity.
Specs are really cool. All sorts of real world applications. The enterprise apps might have the most commercial potential. This tech is legit. Minority equity investors will be lining up. $snap
This is the fundamental reason we too like $SNAP. And the catalyst now is that a decade of Specs capital deployment with material negative ROE to date is coming to a cross roads. Either Specs shows enough promise, while fully acknowledging that the units sold this season will not be much due to price point/form factor, OR it's a pretty underwhelming event which will raise pressure to guardrail spend going forward. Wildcard would be some sort of partner announcement. We'd love that to be a minority investor in Specs such as $SPCX where we've found a lot of industrial logic. In any event, FCF per share is going up.
@evanspiegel @elonmusk ... Lets make it happen! $SNAP $SPCX https://t.co/lInJY54AtQ
Think bigger. What about cellular connectivity via Starlink...removes the need for wifi or phone tethering. Flatters Evan's desire to be less screen addicted and more real world connected bc again we take the phone out of the equation. Massive top of funnel sales channel for Elon and Starlink wrt younger generations. $SNAP
Elon commenting on Spiegel’s post - first time that’s ever happened. Maybe it’s something. Probably not anything. But add it to the mosaic. $snap https://t.co/ofuZxr4UK7

@evanspiegel Unless you want to shut down Specs, you will need more capital for it because the current version will not be a mass market commercial success. I would look to raise minority equity for Spec's via a strategic partnership. Possibly with a frontier lab. FL's lack hardware. SNAP lacks an A.I. deal (Perplexity fell through). Get it done. Save $SNAP.
$GPRO acquired at $1.14. Was a $98. Founder lead with super voting rights. Woodman's hubris lost him billions. @evanspiegel don't make the same mistake. $snap
@BoxLongs They wont close it down. But they could structure something so that $SNAP shareholders no longer footing the bill directly
Specs - we are coming to a tipping point one way or the other. Will it be a disaster despite 7k patents filed and $3.5B of sunk cost over a decade and some really cool cutting edge functionality? Probably. That's because there's a limited TAM at the $2.1k price point and given that the specs look absurd. So what will Evan do if sales are horrible? $SNAP
Subs are the $SNAP inflection nobody has cared about, yet: H/T @Jack64128896 for the find on memories https://t.co/c5FVBZfK4c
Legal issues for social media is all the more reason for $SNAP and @evanspiegel to do right be long suffering shareholders and spin off Specs, which given the form factor and price point will be DOA wrt mass market appeal. The tech is cool and worth something, but its not a commercially viable product yet. Time to spin it and raise capital for it via minority investors, not SNAP shareholders.
$SNAP sub model pivot is underappreciated. Evan said subs can reach 7-12% of MAU, per their own case study analysis on paid penetration. At 971mn MAU as of Q2, that means 68mn subs at 7% penetration vs the current 3.3%. At the Q2 ARPU runrate, that implies just under $3B in annual revenue and suggests that there remains considerable runway on the subscription side vs the $1.2B sub revenue runrate in Q2.
From $SNAP Q2 shareholder letter: In scheme of things, the stock barely budged. How much would $META or $AMZN be up if Zuck/Jassy had said the same exact thing? Hint: they would be up many multiples of $SNAP's entire market cap. https://t.co/8QeDQq1LFy
@BoxLongs Wild truth is that if $SNAP chooses they can earn over $1/share in FCF next year. $5 stock.
@BoxLongs $SNAP added $250mn in revenue yy and $200mn in adj ebitda. Adj shares outstanding actually decreased 70 bps yy. FCF +400% yy. While everyone knows its a horribly managed asset, the numbers in isolation are MUCH improved YoY while stock itself is down 30% yy.
$SNAP will generate more FCF this year than $GOOGL and maybe more than the hyperscalers combined in the 2H ex MSFT! Just sayin...
