$6.6B to expand nuclear Virginia class submarine production capacity announced today. $ESP is the sole source supplier of certain power components for these Virginia class submarines. Should be a positive for things like backlog conversion and future order growth. This won't matter for revenues near-term, as the factory is live only in 2030, but subcomponents for eventual assembly are ordered well in advance.
$ESP - solid earnings. Numbers were record high, but main negative is book-to-bill sub 1. However, that's expected as funding will flow in '27. One interesting thing - they added language about positive revenue growth into '27. Normally they haven't provided any sort of guidance.
Small cap defense names with quality products or unique assets have held up better than some of the primes. Not much discussion of it but $ITA down quite sharply this past month. $FEIM w/ strong earnings. $ESP just declared another special dividend. $SIF just bouncing around.

This does three nice things: 1. Establishes a component repair centair for critical components (what Espey makes) for submarines. This will increase depot stocking orders and can push demand to Espey ahead of actual submarines builds. 2. Freezing designs w/out approval from DoW is bullish incumbents 3. Given that the memo is identifying the need for robust supplier bases, I'd expect the possibility of more Naval grants/investments
